Many couples never learn what makes a marriage successful before they get married. That’s why Evergreen offers the pre-marriage seminar, “Fit to be Tied.” This ten-week seminar helps couples learn the basics of a happy, fulfilling and God-honoring marriage. Topics include communication, conflict resolution, finances, physical intimacy, expectations, husband/wife roles and parenting. (We also highly recommend this seminar to any seriously-dating couples.)
The format for each meeting includes a message (often taught by a husband/wife team) followed by smaller group discussions. Weekly projects are assigned for the couples to complete outside of the class. Attendance at this seminar is required for couples who desire to get married by an Evergreen pastor. For upcoming seminar dates, check our announcements/calendar online. Generally this 10-week seminar is on Monday evenings from 7-8:30pm and begins in mid-September and late-February each year.
Cost is $70 which includes a marriage book and materials for each of the 10 sessions; there is also a helpful “Wedding Manual” that includes much of what you’ll need to prepare for your wedding. If you take this seminar, you are eligible for marriage license fee reduction of $70 in the state of Minnesota. (Cutting the license fee from $110 down to $40.)

While marriage and parenting are some of the happiest and most rewarding life experiences, they are equally intense and stressful. The Rock wants to help your family be a success. Couples will find support and encouragement as they get together with other couples to share the victories, joys and struggles of marriage and parenting. Throughout the year, look for various seminars and conferences for parents of children at all ages. And once a month, dads can get together for the Dad's Workshop. Meeting the second Saturday of each month, dad's have an opportunity to learn from other men and share parenting experiences.
