Simple. Buildings are expensive to build and maintain. Sure, we'd like to have a permanent meeting place, but we'd much rather invest our funds in people, our services, our ministries, and spreading the Good News. Renting space, such as a school auditorium allows us to do just that. Not to mention, the fact that renting space affords us the opportunity to hold services in the areas where they are needed most, like Uptown.
Small groups are one of the most vital functions of the church. In small groups people have the chance to meet each other’s needs as they develop relationships. It’s easy to get involved in a Rock small group. You can visit our small group page to get specific information.
All teachings are recorded and available from our media library. Reviewing past messages reinforces what you’ve already heard and can help you grow in your spiritual life. You can listen while commuting, cleaning, exercising — the possibilities are endless. Check out our online messages by clicking on "Media Center" on our home page. You can listen and download messages from all five locations, as well as puchase a cd online. To peruse the recordings catalog and order or pick up recordings at the service, visit the recordings after any service. You may also place an order by calling the media center office at 952-895-0887 x112.
None. The Rock respects those believers who choose to practice their faith in an organized religion under specific principles; however, we believe that faith can be explored better when free from the constraints of a religious framework. We are an unbound Christian organization. We simply believe what the Bible tells us, no other strings attached.
Our beliefs are based solely on the 66 Old and New Testament books of the Bible. It was uniquely, verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and was written without error in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme and final authority in faith and life in every age. Every teaching you hear at The Rock is founded in this book, the Word of God. Learn more about our beliefs.
The Rock is an Evergreen Community Church. We're just one church with five locations. You can hit the links in the very top right corner of any of our webpages to visit our other locations: Evergreen-Lakeville, Evergreen-West, Evergreen-Bloomington and The Urban Refuge.
All five of our locations are a branch of an even larger organization called Great Commission Association. Our pastors and staff are supported by the GCA network as they carry out the "Great Commission" set forth by God in Matthew 28:18-20 which states:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you..."
Our pastor, Mark Darling, is committed to answering all of your questions about The Rock, our beliefs, our practices and our mission. Feel free to contact him at any time. You're also encouraged to attend our Friday night service, which is designed specifically for newcomers. Even more details can be learned by taking our Rock 101 orientation class, where you'll have the opportunity to become a member. Rock 101 is held periodically throughout the year. Check the News tab for the next scheduled class. Or email The Rock office for more information
